Pokémon Regional Championships – Hartford

SIDE EVENTS

September 30, 2017 – October 1, 2017

Saturday – 10 AM – 7 PM (exception – PokéParent Open)

Sunday – 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Tickets will be available for sale both Saturday and Sunday in the area of the side events and prize wall booth for non-CP earning side events.
Cash due at registration for CP earning side events (LC and PC events).
Everyone is welcome to register and play in side events!
Please come join the fun! All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Trading Card Game Side Events

8 Player Pick-up Tournaments – Saturday and Sunday

Entry Requires – 1 ticket/player
Start Time: Approximately 9:30 – 10 AM (will be gauged off Junior Division Rounds)

  • Legal sets: XY Evolutions to Sun & Moon: Burning Shadows
  • No GXs or EXs allowed
  • No Garbodor
  • 50 card deck
  • 5 prize cards
  • Swiss Rounds – Number of rounds determined by attendance (minimum of 8 players – maximum of 32 players)
  • Swiss Rounds – Single Game – Untimed (computer will time 40 minutes – will request players maintain rounds at that limit)
  • Rolling starts – begin when both players are ready
  • Pre-event Registration form – Please complete form to help us plan and gauge interest
  • Register at Side Event area
  • TOM will be used to run event – pairings list will be posted – winner of the round reports results to computer operator or Event Team member assigned to this event (no match slips will be printed)
  • End of Swiss Rounds will determine top 2
  • Play Top 2 Finals
  • If event fills to 32 players – top 4 will receive Prize Support
  • Otherwise top 2 will receive Prize Support

 

League Challenge 1 – Sunday Morning Only

Entry Fee – $10.00/Player Cash Only
Registration – Will be available on Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM and on Sunday from 8:30 – 9:15 AM onsite at Side Event Registration booth
League Challenge 1 will begin at 9:30 AM
Age Divisions

  • Junior Division – born in 2007 or later
  • Senior Division – born in 2003, 2004, 2005, or 2006
  • Masters Division – born in 2002 or earlier

Standard – Modified 60 card deck
Standard Format – XY – BREAKthrough (BKT) – Sun & Moon: Burning Shadows (BUS)
Requires Legal & Legible Deck List

  • Be sure to use Blank Deck/Standard to create your decklist
  • Blank Decklists will be available onsite also

Bring your own dice, damage counters, randomizers, GX and special condition markers
Format: This League Challenge will be played using Single Game Swiss Rounds (30 minutes + 3 Turns)
Championship Points earned are for the 2017-2018 Season
Top 4 Players in all 3 age divisions will receive 1st – 4th Place Promotional Cards from TPCi
Prize Support based on attendance

Registration – Will be available on Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM and on Sunday from 11 AM – 11:45 PM onsite at Side Event Registration booth

  • VGC ‘17 Format
  • Little Cup Singles Format (Bring 6 Pokémon, Choose 3 Pokémon)
    • You can’t use any Pokémon that have evolved or are incapable of evolving.
      For example – You can use Charmander, but not Charmeleon or Charizard
      But you can’t use Kangaskhan because it doesn’t evolve into any other Pokémon.
    • Players will need to bring Pokémon at or below Level 5
    • All Pokémon must be the lowest stage of Evolution in a line that can evolve, and must be level 5 or less.
    • No Megas Allowed
    • No Z-crystals Allowed
  • Monochromatic Doubles
    • Only one color – no picking Pokémon from all available colors
    • Doubles format (Bring 6 Pokémon, Choose 4 Pokémon)
    • Z-crystals allowed
    • Color Combination options available will be: (Players signing up for the particular 8 player pod will be able to choose from 1 of these 3 options for their pod)
      • Blue + Brown (Megas Allowed)
        Yellow/Green/Purple (No Megas Allowed)
        Red/Black/White (No Megas Allowed)

Depending on interest:

  • Will run maximum of 64 players with 32 teams – Best of 1 – 5 Rounds – Single elimination OR
  • Will run maximum of 32 players with 16 teams – Best of 3 – 4 rounds – Single elimination

Teams of 2 players
4v4 battles via Link Battle in Festival Plaza
“Doubles” Format (each player brings 6 Pokémon and Chooses 3 Pokémon
Each team will sit on one side of the table and the team members will be allowed to talk/coach each other
VGC ‘17 Rules Set (Alola dex, Z-Crystals are Allowed, No Megas Allowed)

Premier Challenge – Sunday Morning Only

Registration – Will be available on Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM and on Sunday from 8:15 – 9:00 AM onsite at the Side Event booth
If you register on Saturday, you do not have to be at the hall until 9 AM on Sunday.
Event Start Time – 9:30 AM

Video Game Team List is Required. We will have them available onsite. You MUST use the MOST current Team List form. Remember to complete it legibly and exactly how the team is in your battle box!

VGC ‘17 Rules
Only Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon Game Cards or downloadable versions are permitted for use.Players may use any system in the Nintendo 3DS™ family of systems during the competition. This includes the Nintendo 3DS™, Nintendo 3DS XL™ and Nintendo 2DS™.
Players are responsible for bringing a charger that is compatible with their system.

Team Restrictions: Players may only use Pokèmon that are legal for the tournament format. Players are responsible for ensuring that their team adheres to any restrictions set forth by the tournament format and the VG Tournament Rules & Formats Documents

Non-eligible Pokémon:

  • Ash-Greninja, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, Magearna

Pokémon must have the Sun and Moon black ‘clover’ symbol.
All egg moves and items used must be currently available in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.
Only one of each Pokémon is permitted.
Duplicate items are not allowed.
Mega Stones are not allowed.

Battle Spot Doubles – Sunday Afternoon Only

Registration – Will be available on Saturday from 10 AM – 6 PM and on Sunday from 10:30 – 11 AM onsite at the Side Event booth
Event Start Time approximately 12:30 – 1 PM (based on timing of PC – This event will follow)
Entry Requires – 2 tickets/player
Best of 1
Format – Open Dex (No Box Legendaries, Primals etc.)
Pokémon must have black ‘clover’ or ‘diamond’ symbols (bred or caught in Pokémon Omega Ruby or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon
Z-Crystals and Mega Stones are allowed
